Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has urged citizens in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Pune to stay indoors amid heavy rains. Shinde stated that NDRF, SDRF, Army, Navy, Police, Fire Brigade, and Health systems are coordinating efforts. Instructions have been given to evacuate and provide necessities to affected people.

In Pune’s Deccan Gymkhana area, three men tragically lost their lives around 2 a.m. on Thursday. The men were electrocuted while attempting to move vessels and furniture from their eatery situated in the Mutha riverbed, which had rapidly flooded due to the intense rainfall.
Further tragedy struck on the Pune-Kolad road in the Tamhini Ghat section, approximately 60 kilometers from Pune city. At around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, a landslide claimed the life of a 30-year-old man and left another person injured. The heavy rains had destabilized the hillside, leading to the fatal collapse.
Despite the severe weather conditions, the Mumbai-Pune Expressway remains open, although traffic has significantly decreased due to the hazardous driving conditions created by the incessant downpour across Maharashtra.
